*Faculty Researcher: *100% annual effort (12 mo. contract with possible
re-appointment), starting as soon as 5/1/18. The Faculty Researcher will
work under the guidance of Dr. Shannon Lipscomb, with the Roots of
Resilience team. The Roots of Resilience project is funded to develop
and conduct a pilot test of an online learning and coaching program to
help early childhood teachers promote resilience among young children
impacted by trauma. This project is supported by the US Department of
Education Institute for Education Sciences, and is in year 3 of 4.
Research on usability and feasibility is nearing completion, with a
randomized test planned for year 4.
The Faculty Researcher will collaborate in all phases of the research
and will contribute to and/or co-author publications, reports, and
presentations for various audiences including practitioners, policy
makers, academics, funders, and the community. H/She will also
contribute to revision of the Roots of Resilience program and grant
writing to extend the work. The person hired for this position may also
serve as a coach and/or instructor to support implementation of the
Roots of Resilience program. Mentorship and professional development
will be provided.

* Masters degree or PhD in a field related to the current project
(e.g., early education, human development and family science, social
work, psychology).
* Experience working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds, and
a commitment to promoting diversity, cultural competence, and inclusion.
* Skills relevant to the research process (qualitative and
quantitative data collection and analysis, writing research papers
and grants, IRB protocols).
* Excellent written and verbal, interpersonal, and organizational
skills. Careful attention to detail. Strong decision making
abilities, self-directed, motivated, and successful at meeting
deadlines.
* Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience
coaching, mentoring, training, and/or counseling in community-based
settings, and/or those with prior experience in early care and
education programs.
*About the Project: *Roots of Resilience: Teachers Awakening
Children’s**Healing combines online modules with video-based online
coaching for early childhood teachers caring for young children impacted
by trauma. The goal of Roots of Resilience is to support teachers in
both home-based and center-based early learning programs to help
children build resilience by providing supportive, engaging, and
trauma-sensitive care. Funding: Institute of Education Sciences,
