Good morning,

I'm writing with an update about the launch of our new RAP IACUC protocol
system. As you know, we've been in a freeze state with our current system
since July 20th to allow for the migration of as much information from eAPM
into Huron as possible. Our testing identified issues requiring additional
work to mitigate and those efforts are ongoing. To provide the best
experience possible for our community, we have decided to postpone the
launch for a period of time in order to thoroughly address these concerns
and perform extensive testing. We will let you know as soon as possible a
revised go live date - likely in October. In the meantime, continue to send
any requests for protocol amendments to the IACUC office and we will process
them in the manual system.

I am happy to say that we should soon have positive news about a new
director for Animal Welfare Services. The HR process is still in play so we
are not at liberty to say more. Suffice it to say, I am very happy that the
position will be filled as we launch the new system.

I would also like to comment on the re-formatting of your currently approved
procedures. I apologize for any confusion we created in sending out the
templates and procedures to you, so let me share some additional details:

*	There is no set deadline for accomplishing this task. We had a few
labs who were eager to get started in reviewing and converting their
procedures, so we wanted to get that accomplished and made the templates
available.
*	Once the Huron system is live, each lab will need to review the
information that was transferred, enter procedures and submit an amendment
for review. We have a lot of training materials to explain these steps and
our trainings (see below) will touch on this.
*	We do not at this time have an extensive library of standard
procedures, though it is still my hope that we will be able to quickly grow
this resource to facilitate and speed up the process of entering procedures
for you.
*	Procedures that are unique to your lab will not likely become
standard procedures, will remain team procedures and therefore, I would
start with those more unique procedures as you start the re-formatting
process.
*	In the coming weeks, we will be conducting zoom trainings and
recording them, that will cover:

*	First touch of your protocol - what to expect
*	Where to find training materials about the system
*	How to continue submitting protocol amendments through the
transition
*	AND MUCH MORE!!

It is our goal first and foremost to ensure the welfare of our animal
subjects, support your research and keep our program compliant. If you have
questions or concerns about any of this, please reach out.

Sincerely,

Kathy
