>From Jim Slattery , Assoc VP for Research Ops:

Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce that Stephanie Womack has joined UO as our
Director of Animal Welfare Services (AWS). Stephanie will support our
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and the animal research
program. Stephanie will work to ensure the quality and oversight of our
program. Stephanie is joining us at a critical time for our program as we
will soon be going live with our Research Administration Portal for IACUC
(RAP IACUC).

Stephanie comes to us from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) where
she spent the last several years working with animals in research, first as
a student researcher and more recently as the Operations Manager. During her
time at UNO, she supported their animal program by overseeing the
development of an animal care and use program, leading the process which
resulted in institutional accreditation by the Association for Assessment
and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC), and
directing the formation of UNO's first independent Institutional Animal Care
and Use Committee (IACUC).

Please take a moment to welcome Stephanie.

We are very grateful that Kathy Snell stepped into the role of interim
director of AWS over the past year. In addition to maintaining the regular
operations of AWS, Kathy played a key role in preparing for our successful
triennial accreditation review by the AAALAC and the RAP IACUC
implementation. I would like to thank her and others, particularly Audrey
Harris and Tim Mason, who have stepped in to help support the program during
this year of transition. Kathy will continue to work with Stephanie to help
in the transition.

Regards,

Jim
