coe-staff: COE 2024 Commencement Ceremony

Hello,
The email below will be sent to all COE students this week, providing details about the COE and University Commencement activities.  The COE Ceremony will be held from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on the South Lawn behind Knight Library.  I am happy to make class visits if you have a course with graduating students who have questions.  Just let me know!

For those programs wishing to host internal receptions for students prior to the June 17th ceremony, the university would ask that 1) They be held no later than Friday, June 14th  (no Saturday or Sunday events); and 2) That they be called a 'reception,' not a ceremony or a commencement.   If your program is having a reception, please let me know.  We'll keep a list of these at our SAS front desk for anyone who calls with questions.

In past years, we have found a couple of ways to make the COE ceremony unique to us with the addition of a Mariachi band, multilingual welcomes, and an undergraduate research poster display.  We hope to continue those new traditions and maybe add others.  If you have any suggestions for this year, please let me know.

This information will be going out to all COE students to provide information about commencement activities. The main UO Commencement Ceremony and the College of Education Commencement Ceremony will both be held on Monday, June 17, 2024.

COE Ceremony
Our COE ceremony, where you walk across the stage and have your name read, will take place on the South Lawn behind Knight Library from 1:00-3:00 pm on Monday, June 17.  Because there is plenty of seating, no tickets are necessary, and you can have as many family and friends attend as you wish. However, we would like you to RSVP for the ceremony so we can gather some information about how many graduating students will be participating and include your name in our list of graduates. University Commencement Ceremony
The university's official commencement ceremony starts at 9:00 am, Monday, June 17 at Autzen Stadium. All graduates are welcome to bring as many friends and family members as they would like-no tickets will be required, but they would like you to RSVP so they can get a count of attendees. Visit https://commencement.uoregon.edu/ for full details on the ceremony, parking for the day and campus activities.

Grad Week at the Duck Store

Caps, gowns, and a wide array of other regalia and memorabilia will be available. Packages include a UOAA membership and Duck Store gift card.

Don't Forget to Apply For Your Degree
In order to receive your diploma from the Registrar's Office (these are mailed about 6 weeks after the end of the term in which you declare to graduate) you need to declare your intent to graduate.

If you are planning to graduate this spring, you must apply for your degree by April 28, 2024, for undergraduates, and by April 12, 2024 for graduate students.

Applying for your degree is different from opting in to participate in commencement. In order to receive a degree and get mailed your diploma, you must apply on DuckWeb<https://duckweb.uoregon.edu/> or GradWeb<https://gradweb.uoregon.edu/>.
