Updates and Upcoming:    

Update | College of Education IHP
Our IHP proposals have been submitted, reflecting the incredible effort and dedication of our faculty and staff. Currently under review by the dean's council and interim provost are two new proposals and one from last year, with final decisions anticipated in early Spring. Proposals include Health Promotion in Latinx Communities, Educational Policy and Equity, and Early Literacy Education. Thanks to all contributors for their invaluable support.

Leona Tyler Award Lecture | Adolescent Well-being and Peace Promotion
Save the Date: Friday, 4/5, for an event featuring this year's Leona Tyler Award lecturer, Dr. Phillip W. Graham<https://www.rti.org/expert/phillip-w-graham>. As the Director of the Center for Behavioral Health Epidemiology, Implementation, and Evaluation Research at RTI International, Dr. Graham specializes in preventing adolescent violence and substance use. Leading multiple National Institutes of Health-funded grants, he focuses on reducing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) in community settings and strengthening structural support systems for improved outcomes among adolescents and young adults. Join us for the lecture in the Gerlinger lounge from 2:30 pm - 4 pm, followed by a reception.

Countdown to Celebration | COE and University Commencement Activities
This week, students will receive notice with details about the upcoming COE and University Commencement activities, including the COE ceremony scheduled for Monday, 6/17, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on the South Lawn behind Knight Library. For programs hosting internal receptions before the ceremony, please be sure they’re held no later than Friday, 6/14, and refer to them as 'receptions.' Spotlights and Accolades:       

NSF CAREER Award Education | Dr. Jennifer Ruef
Jennifer Ruef, Associate Professor in the Department of Education Studies, has been awarded the National Science Foundation CAREER award<https://new.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/faculty-early-career-development-program-career>.  In addition to supporting Dr. Ruef’s research over the next 5 years, this single investigator award is designed to identify the next generation of STEM leaders across all STEM disciplines, including science and mathematics education research. Dr. Ruef is the first UO College of Education recipient of an NSF CAREER award. Congratulations, Jenny!

Education and Advocacy | Jennifer Scurlock
Jennifer Scurlock is an educator at Churchill High School and a member of the COE advisory council. Beyond her dedicated role as an Advanced Placement English teacher, Jennifer actively contributes to the COE advisory council, fostering inclusivity and diversity in education. As vice chair of the Oregon State Board of Education, she continues to uplift student voices, aligning with the College of Education's commitment to positive change.
