physgradlist


physgradlist is a mailing list of UO physics graduate students (and other cool people, like postdocs). Use it for various random things, like finding a spare scope, announcing an event, etc.

Subscribing to the list


To subscribe to the list, send a blank message to physgradlist-join@lists.uoregon.edu, or use the form on this page.

Posting to the list


To post to the entire list, send a message to physgradlist@lists.uoregon.edu. If you are a member of physgradlist, your message will be posted to the list immediately. Messages from outside senders are passed on at the discretion of the list owner.

Bounces


If your message cannot be delivered to the list, it will bounce. When this happens, it is usually because:

  1. The message is not from the subscribed address. Make sure to send from the same account at which you receive physgradlist messages.

  2. The message exceeds the 40KB size limit. For best results, omit large file attachments.

If your message bounces, you will receive a bounce notification. You can either

  1. Wait for approval: The list owner will usually forward bounced messages on to the list, but it takes a while. If you don't want to wait, you can

  2. Cancel and resend: Follow the instructions in the bounce notification to cancel your original posting. Then, send another message with the problem fixed.

Please do not send out a second message without first cancelling your prior one. This helps prevent double-posting.

Getting help


If you ever need to get in contact with the owner of the list, send email to physgradlist-owner@lists.uoregon.edu. This is the general rule for most mailing lists when you need to contact a human.

To post a message to all the list members, send email to physgradlist@lists.uoregon.edu.

Subscribing to physgradlist

Subscribe to physgradlist by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.
