This is for current PREV SCI masters' students:

See below. In past years we have had a student or two involved in lane county health and prevention. The Externship would likely start winter term-so you would register for PREV 605: Externship for a credit or 2 credits in Winter term if you were to do this. Check out their work and if you are interested in pursuing this opportunity let me know and email the people to contact, below.

This is less likely a research externship and more program implementation based experience. There may be some program evaluation involved - it really depends on their current projects. This is a good site for any of you interested in eventually getting your Certified Prevention Specialist credential, and may be a bit less relevant to any of you pursuing further doctoral study or research positions. In any case, this has potential to be a very good experience - and based on match of your interest with any ongoing projects.

So, contact Lane County (contacts below) if interested and copy me on any emails.

Thanks and see you tomorrow in seminar!!
Benedict

Subject: Externships

Good afternoon,

Thank you for contacting me about Prevention Science externships. We usually have room for 1 or 2 interns in the department but it really depends on students and their skills matching projects that are currently going on and time that staff has to dedicate to working with an intern. The best way to set up an internship with a Prevention is to have the interested student email either myself or the program supervisor CA Baskerville at Cindy.Baskerville at co.lane.or.us<mailto:Cindy.Baskerville at co.lane.or.us> with details about their particular interests and a resume.

Thank you,
