Good afternoon, DGSs and Program Coordinators:

I'd like to share a list of graduate writing resources that are fully accessible and free to students, including coaching, writing circles, and presentations. Thank you for helping us disseminate this information! Additionally, I kindly invite you to share with me (Paolo at pdaniele at uoregon.edu<mailto:pdaniele at uoregon.edu>) any other UO and/or non-UO writing resource that you think may benefit students outside of your areas or departments. A special thank you to CoDac and Libraries colleagues for sending me information on a few initiatives they've taken. Please refer to the flyer below or go to: https://bit.ly/grad-writing-resources<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/bit.ly/grad-writing-resources__;!!C5qS4YX3!CEJ-QlVRcIEqE2ea3mh4s0fksNKmIr8zY_Cn-jyHc96YU369_GGnDJld87cIYgXNVwYIIrbBu2f2ekK0tJY$>

I'd like to highlight a few resources:
The Auntie Way Retreat: the Division of Graduate Studies is sponsoring seats for this very highly rated program led by Dr. Michelle Jacob, enrolled member of the Yakama Nation, Professor of Indigenous Studies and Director of the Sapsik’ʷałá (Teacher) Education Program. Registration at https://forms.gle/D7W8294kSYbMJ9CX9<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/forms.gle/D7W8294kSYbMJ9CX9__;!!C5qS4YX3!CEJ-QlVRcIEqE2ea3mh4s0fksNKmIr8zY_Cn-jyHc96YU369_GGnDJld87cIYgXNVwYIIrbBu2f2ZbFQb4A$> . Dr. Jacob will lead a weekly 2-hour Zoom meeting of diverse and interdisciplinary scholars who will focus on each writer developing their skills and mindsets as writers using an approach that emphasizes how we each are full of kindness, fierceness, and creativity–as writers who care about our communities and peoples (and how important this is especially when diverse voices are not the dominant narrative within our institutions).

More coaching: two wonderful resources, embodied by Dr. Mike Murashige, Writing Consultant for the CoDaC, and Alexa Weinstein, Instructor and Writing Coach through the Division of Graduate Studies, are available for coaching.
- Mike continues his great work providing support to graduate students to help, rethink, reshape, and improve writing practices; and as Developmental Editor, to aid writers with the content of their research writing and projects - to request a consult, students must email mmurashi at uoregon.edu<mailto:mmurashi at uoregon.edu>.
- Alexa will provide 1 on 1 coaching through June 2023 for your students in their last year before dissertation, plus workshops later this year. Sign-up coming soon!

"The Essentials of Academic Writing" workshop on November 2, 12pm-1pm, also led by Dr. Mike Murashige, to discuss the shift in mindset that must accompany the transition into graduate writing — about how to conceptualize your research and writing, and how to translate that onto the page. Though this workshop is aimed at introducing students to graduate-level writing, your more experienced students will definitely gain something new. Details and free registration at https://lnkd.in/gxMyRFAB<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/lnkd.in/gxMyRFAB__;!!C5qS4YX3!CEJ-QlVRcIEqE2ea3mh4s0fksNKmIr8zY_Cn-jyHc96YU369_GGnDJld87cIYgXNVwYIIrbBu2f2jRhbHRM$>
