cpsylist: CPHS Combined Doctoral Seminars for the remainder of this academic year

[Counseling Psychology]

Hello PhD students and advising faculty,

Faculty discussed the student ideas for combined docsems across prevention science and counseling psychology that you generated in the 9/30 combined doc sem, and we have planned the following four combined meetings for the remainder of AY 22-23. These combined seminars will be held from 10:15 - 11:45 on a Friday, classroom TBD. Faculty selected these student-generated topics because of their broad appeal across both programs. Faculty will continue to consider additional ways to address some of the other topics suggested on the Jamboard created in week 1 throughout the year.
*         Winter term, Week 2 (1/20): Research speed dating (faculty provide a quick overview of their research; provides students a way to learn about and connect with faculty they might not otherwise engage with)
*         Winter term, Week 9 (3/10): GE placements, externships, & other professional opportunities- students share about their GE roles and other related professional experiences to foster awareness of opportunities and address questions from peers
*         Spring term, Week 2 (4/14): Cohort meetings with the cohort right above/below you (for exchange of information, peer guidance)
*         Spring term, Week 8 (5/26): Preparation for the job market (not specific to academic job market) - interviews (internship or any other positions) and CVs
