The Student Affiliates of Seventeen (SAS) Executive Board is pleased to share that we are seeking applicants for our Executive Board for the 2021–2022 academic year. Students may apply from any APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling psychology or an affiliated master’s program. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 28, 2021. Membership on the SAS Executive Board entails twice monthly participation in a 1-hour Executive Board meeting and additional time committed each week to fulfill the requirements of the member’s position (e.g., team meetings, project preparation, communications, outreach). These tasks vary by position. Please see the position descriptions attached for more information.

Past leadership experience is not required to be appointed to the SAS Executive Board. We are seeking students with motivation, enough availability for active weekly engagement, and a desire to learn and collaborate with peers and professional colleagues in APA Division 17, the Society of Counseling Psychology (SCP). We strongly encourage students to apply who are:

  *   First- or second-year doctoral or master’s students
  *   From groups that continue to face marginalization and unequal representation in psychology and counseling psychology leadership (e.g., Black and Indigenous students and other students of Color [BIPOC], queer, transgender, and non-binary students, international students, undocumented students, first-generation and low-income students, students with disabilities)

All applicants will be considered, and interested students are encouraged to apply.

 SAS is the official student organization of SCP. We represent over 1,000 student members in counseling psychology and affiliated fields. SAS’s mission is to support the professional development, leadership development, and advocacy interests in SCP governance of all students who identify with the profession of counseling psychology. We are committed to advancing equity, social justice, and liberation in the profession.
