Hello,
I am a doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Massachusetts Boston, completing my dissertation on community engagement and well-being among Black or African Americans under the guidance of Dr. Sharon Horne. This online survey should take approximately 20 to 25 minutes to complete and has been approved by the University of Massachusetts Boston's Institutional Review Board (IRB Protocol #: 2016079).
You are eligible to participate in this study if:
(1) You must be 18 years of age or older.
(2) You must self-identify as Black or African American.
(3) You must currently reside within the United States of America.
It is my hope that participating in this study would allow you to reflect on your racial identity, psychological well-being, and community engagement. Moreover, will be contributing to a body of knowledge that will attempt to increase Black racial identity, pride, and community engagement with Black communities. This study may guide mental health professionals in work with Black Americans, specifically related to internalized racism, psychological well-being, and community engagement.
If you agree to participate in this study, you will be routed to an online survey consisting of several measures varying in length. Total expected completion time is approximately 20-25 minutes. Additionally, if you choose to participate, you will be entered in a raffle to win one of five $25 Amazon gift card.
