Subject: [DIV17DISCUSS] Call for student research proposals: Malyon-Smith Scholarship Award

PLEASE DISSEMINATE WIDELY
-----------------------------
The Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues (Division 44) is pleased to announce that it is now accepting proposals from psychology graduate students for the Malyon-Smith Scholarship Award.

The Malyon-Smith Scholarship is named for two founding past-presidents of the Division, the late Alan Malyon and the late Adrienne Smith. It is a fund that annually awards up to $1000 to selected graduate students in psychology to advance research in the psychology of sexual orientation and gender identity. The award represents one of the Division's major efforts to mentor and support science in LGBTQ psychology by encouraging the work of young researchers. Faculty members are strongly encouraged to inform students of this award so that we can continue to insure the future of LGBTQ research in psychology.

Applicants may submit proposals for unpublished studies at any phase of the research process. Students may use the same proposal to apply for multiple awards through Division 44. Proposals must be submitted by March 30, 2017. Applicants for the award must be currently enrolled full-time in a psychology graduate program (including psychology programs not housed in a department of psychology). Applications from students in allied disciplines, such as social work and sociology, cannot be considered at this time.

Detailed submission instructions for this award are included on the Division 44 website<http://www.apadivisions.org/division-44/awards/malyon-smith.aspx>. Proposals are submitted electronically to Malyon.Smith.Award at gmail.com<mailto:Malyon.Smith.Award at gmail.com> (please type carefully, as applicants sometimes switch the "L" and "Y" in the email address). If you have questions after reading the online information, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Stephanie Budge (budge at wisc.edu<mailto:budge at wisc.edu>) or Dr. Jonathan Mohr (jmohr at umd.edu<mailto:jmohr at umd.edu>).

Best,
Stephanie Budge and Jon Mohr
