National Institutes of Health - Behavioral and Social Sciences Early Career Workshop

The workshop includes strategies for developing strong NIH proposals, navigating the peer review process, and building a professional network to support a successful research career. Applications are due by February 13, 2026.



UO Dreamer Ally Training

Friday, February 27, 2026

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The Dreamers Working Group invites you to register for the 2026 Dreamer Ally Training. This training is offered annually to strengthen faculty and staff's ability to support Dreamer and immigrant students. This is an in-person training held in the EMU. We cannot accommodate partial attendance, please plan on staying for the entire workshop.

This article highlights important work Audrey Lucero is doing to support the Latinx Scholars Academic Residential Community, recently hosting the Imagining Mañana event featuring a graphic novel about Latinx communities 500 years in the future.



Lifetime Achievement Award from Oregon Speech Language and Hearing Association

In Fall of 2025, Dr. Karen Durany, SLP-CCC was bestowed Honors of the Association-a lifetime achievement award from the Oregon Speech Language and Hearing Association. An excerpt from the nomination letter read, ""...recognizing her exceptional and sustained contributions to the field of speech-language pathology through education, academic advising, and student advocacy. For nearly 30 years, Dr. Durany has demonstrated unparalleled dedication to the success and well-being of students at the University of Oregon, profoundly shaping the lives and careers of future clinicians and scholars in Communication Disorders and Sciences (CDS)...As an academic advisor, mentor, educator, and leader, Dr. Durany has left a legacy. Her long-standing role as Director of Undergraduate Studies in CDS since 2008 reflects her deep commitment to fostering academic excellence and inclusion."



New Article: Critical Appraisal Tool for Delphi Method Studies

Congratulations to Sean Grant for lead authoring a special paper proposing the first critical appraisal tool for studies using the Delphi method<https://www.bmj.com/content/391/bmj-2025-084509>. The Delphi method is an increasingly prominent approach to examine interest-holder consensus on important issues in research, policy, and practice.

Join other COE staff and faculty for the annual COE student scholarship application review. Faculty, this is considered college-level service and is a great way to support our current and future students. And...the more reviewers we have on the committee, the fewer applications each person has to review! Reviews of applications occur completely online between February 16 and March 8. If you would like to participate in this rewarding activity or would like to learn more before committing, please complete the 2026 Scholarship Committee Signup Form<https://forms.office.com/r/SLTXFf8sqL> by February 6th.
