Dear COE Community,
On Monday evening I had the opportunity to welcome our UOTeach Consortium focus group members, a cross-institution group of professionals who support general education teacher preparation and teacher development. During a time that is pivotal for education, both K-12 and higher ed, their enthusiasm was palpable and their commitment to teacher education and teacher development was joyful. Special thanks to Julie Heffernan and UOTeach faculty for creating the conditions to come together and focus on teacher development.
As we approach the end of winter term, I would like to thank each of you for your work on behalf of students, our university, and communities we serve. I look forward to seeing you at our COE faculty and staff meeting next Friday (3/14) from 1:30-3pm in HEDCO 220.
Warmly,
Laura Lee

Dacher Keltner, PhD
Tuesday March 11th, 4-5:30pm
Knight Campus Beetham Family Seminar Room 127
Dacher Keltner is professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, and faculty director of the UC Berkeley Greater Good Science Center. In his new book, Awe: The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How it Can Transform Your Life, Keltner offers a groundbreaking exploration and deeply personal reflection on the elusive emotion of awe. Drawing on fresh research about how awe impacts our brains and bodies, as well as examining its role throughout history, culture, and in his own life during a time of grief, Keltner investigates how embracing awe in our daily lives helps us recognize and appreciate the most human aspects of our nature. Admission is free.
