Hello,
The State Employees Food Drive is here! The Governor’s State Employees Food Drive will run through the month of March! (Yes, it’s usually in February, but was pushed back statewide.) This annual event partners state agencies with their regional Oregon Food Bank network member, so the primary beneficiary for UO is the Eugene campus area food bank, FOOD for Lane County<https://www.foodforlanecounty.org/> (though you can designate another regional food bank if you donate through payroll deductions!)
How to donate
The most impactful way to give is with a monetary donation! Funds give food banks the flexibility to funnel resources to where they are needed most, like purchasing specific foods or responding to a crisis. Here are the ways you can support this important community fundraiser:
1. Payroll deductions: You can set up a one-time or 12-month recurring payroll deduction via this form<https://forms-b.uoregon.edu/form/launch/governor-state-employee-food-drive>.
Note: Payroll deductions from last year’s food drive end at 12 months and do not roll over; you will need to set up a new monthly deduction if you would like your donation to continue! You can also choose for your donation to go to any Oregon Food Bank network member, not just FFLC.
1. Donate online: Use the College of Education online giving<https://www.givegab.com/teams/college-of-education-2025> site to make a donation with a credit/debit card. Just click the ‘Make a Donation’ button to make a fast donation.
Note: Though there is an option to make your gift recurring, use payroll deductions if you’d like to make a monthly gift. The online giving site will be shut down at the end of February and future donations will not count towards the UO Food Drive.
1. Donate shelf-stable food: Provide variety to pantry shelves with most-needed foods<https://uoregon.sharepoint.com/:b:/s/O365_GovernorsFoodDrive637/ETxDGI31R_pLkSQNWW52f4oBngmjhCOBIyb42DWSZW4fRw?e=ZbVvfe> or culturally diverse foods. Our team food box is located in HEDCO 130.
What does your donation do?
FOOD for Lane County supports the 1 in 8 Lane County residents who are food insecure, meaning they do not have regular access to the foods they need to lead a healthy life. Families facing hunger may not necessarily be food insecure all the time; the need for emergency food often reflects a family’s need to make trade-offs between housing or medical bills and buying groceries. FOOD for Lane County distributes food to more than 150 partner agencies and distribution sites, and runs programs designed to improve the ability of low-income individuals to maintain an adequate supply of wholesome, nutritious food, like Meals on Wheels, Weekend Snack Pack and Summer Food.
Thanks for your help,
