Dear COE Community,
Today is the last day of January and it’s hard to believe that we’re in Week 4 of the term! Calendar year 2024 has been a bit bumpy due to winter weather and other disruptions, but winter term is moving forward and we are busier than ever. I’m pleased that so many faculty, staff, and students are engaged in tenure track faculty interviews/recruitment and graduate admissions. The new faculty and students that we welcome to our community help shape our identity and move our priorities and agendas forward. I’m grateful for your collective and important contributions.
Yesterday the COE submitted our climate action plan that has been deeply informed by faculty, staff, and student input. Huge thanks to our DEI committee and Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann, in particular, for helping move this work forward. Our action plan focuses on improving climate through the myriad micro-interactions we have with each other that improve respect, clarity of expectations, inclusion, and community.
Please read on for reminders and announcements of upcoming activities. Our accolades section below celebrates two of our COE doctoral students. Do you have an accolade or shout-out for our COE community? Please send it to me (with a cc to educationdean at uoregon.edu<mailto:educationdean at uoregon.edu>).
Warmly,
Laura Lee
