Dear COE community,

Thank you for your important efforts supporting our students and each other. Nurturing our community through intentional outreach, accolades, and support is part of who we are in the College of Education. Today's edition of the Weekly is devoted to some important staff accolades. Rather than having you scroll down to the bottom of the email, I'm placing our accolades at the top. Enjoy!

If you have someone you wish to acknowledge, please consider sharing. I would love to highlight all of our work - both small and large - that is important to our mission and our community-building.

Thanks for continuing to co-create an environment that supports others and promotes belonginess and inclusion.

Warmly,
Laura Lee

Accolades:

  * Here's a fun one (written and submitted by Jody Ferguson, HEDCO Clinic Manager). Jody says, "I think the folks who deserve kudos are the HEDCO Clinic IT staff - Gary Sullivan, Ken Loge, Steve P and Zeke Petersen! THANK YOU! We are fortunate to have a team that is dedicated to supporting our clinic and tackling all our various tech projects and issues. They understand the importance of what we do here at the clinic and have "come to bat" for us on a multitude of occasions. Their valiant efforts and hard work have not gone unnoticed. A special thanks to Zeke who has dedicated a ton of time to keep things running smoothly and shows up in a flash to help." Thank you, Jody for modeling gratitude and appreciation to some of our awesome IT staff!

  * I want to acknowledge our team of COE Academic Advisors Emma Bjorngard Basayne, Angela Dornbusch, and Mary Marchetti. They work tirelessly, daily with our undergraduate students teaching, training, advising, and preparing them on their academic pathways in the COE. Advisors work with program faculty, university policy and central offices, and college administration to ensure that each of our undergraduate students feels seen, heard, and supported as they engage in their personal journeys. Our advising team is currently working on overdrive as they support new students for spring registration, incoming students for ongoing IntroDucktion, and graduating students who are completing their program plans. With gratitude as well to the program faculty who work closely with our advisors and give them a respectful voice in programming conversations to ensure that students have a smooth pathway throughout their journeys.

  * I also want to acknowledge our front office staff, Lisa Fortin, and our student workers Alex, Sora, Sara, Audrey, and Karielle who monitor a myriad of items that come up from inside and outside of the College every day and who are instrumental in problem-solving and resolving tangible day-to-day operational issues to ensure that our college front office operations run seamlessly.

  * Jean Kjellstrand was recently featured in this Around the O Article<https://around.uoregon.edu/content/uo-recognized-top-producer-us-fulbright-scholars?utm_source=ato02-21-23&utm_campaign=workplace> for being selected for a Fulbright Scholar award. Jean's placement for the 2022-23 academic year is the University of Helsinki in Finland. The Fulbright program is the U.S. government's flagship international educational exchange program. It is also among the largest and most diverse exchange programs in the world. Since its inception in 1946, more than 400,000 participants from all backgrounds and fields - including recent university graduates, teachers, scientists, researchers, artists and others from the United States and more than 160 other countries ? have participated in the Fulbright Program. Congratulations, Jean.

  * Island Mode Testing: CPFM Utilities and Energy is scheduling Island Mode testing for Wednesday, March 29th between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. The Island Mode testing will follow-up on the December failure to determine the root cause of the problem. The island mode procedure will be attempted several times throughout the scheduled test period. As a result, short duration power outages may occur at any time throughout the testing period. Special Instructions: Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. The software on these machines can be negatively affected due to the power surge when the power is turned back on. A power surge can corrupt the clone files in the machines and change preconfigured settings. For questions, please contact Kati Kronholm at 541-346-5370 or katik at uoregon.edu<mailto:katik at uoregon.edu>.

They will also be posted on the governance site here<https://blogs.uoregon.edu/coedocs/supporting-international-students/>.
