* Save the Date For Ballmer Institute Candidate Visits: Please hold January 12-13, 2023 for full day interviews for our Ballmer Institute Tenure Track Candidate Visits<https://careers.uoregon.edu/en-us/job/529494/assistant-associate-or-full-professor-of-childrens-behavioral-health>. This is a cluster hire of Ballmer Institute/children’s behavioral health faculty who will have their tenure homes in either the College of Education or Psychology department and be engaged in work to support the Ballmer Institute on Children’s Behavioral Health<https://childrensbehavioralhealth.uoregon.edu/> at the new NE Portland campus.
* Clarke Honors College Faculty-in-Residence Call for Submissions (application deadline: January 9, 2023).
* The CHC seeks tenured and tenure-track faculty to become Faculty-in-Residence. The Faculty-in-Residence (or FiR) program attracts highly motivated and skilled researchers and teachers to work together in the Robert D. Clark Honors College. The CHC’s small class sizes and innovative curriculum lend themselves to experiments in pedagogy and curricula. Honors college classes are discussion-based, with small groups of 15-19 highly motivated students with strong academic skills. The CHC serves students from every undergraduate major across campus, and our classes encourage interdisciplinarity while cultivating critical and creative thinking, writing, reading, and communication skills.
* FiR appointments are for three-year terms and may be renewed. FiRs’ research homes remain in their departmental units. FiRs’ teaching load is four 4-credit CHC courses per academic year, they teach at every level of the CHC curriculum, serve on a maximum of 7 thesis committees per year as CHC representative, and serve as faculty advisor to approximately 50 students. The CHC has three professional advisors and undergraduate peer mentors who also provide advising support.
* A new Faculty-in-Residence model was implemented in Spring of 2022. It standardized the financial support granted to the FiR home units and the expectations for teaching and service for all FiR. The details of the model are as follows:
* Schools and colleges will receive $90,000 per FiR appointment per year (with a scaled reduction as per below if the FiR teaches a graduate course in alternating years in their department).
* FiR course load is four 4-credit courses per academic year.
* FiR appointments are three years in length.
* For the duration of the appointment, 0.4 FTE (research) will remain in the FiR’s home unit or department, while 0.6 FTE (0.4 FTE for teaching and 0.2 FTE for professional development and service, including advising students and serving as a CHC representative on student theses) will be devoted to the CHC.
* If requested, the CHC may adjust service to accommodate service required in the home unit. In addition, the course load can be modified to allow faculty to teach one graduate course in alternating years with departmental approval (the timing of the graduate course will be written into appointment letters to help with CHC and departmental planning). If a FiR elects to teach one graduate course in their home department, they will teach three undergraduate courses in the CHC.
* Additional information about the CHC Faculty-in-Residence program, including minimum qualifications and application instructions, can be found here<https://honors.uoregon.edu/faculty-residence-call-applications>.
