Dear Faculty and Staff,
It's hard to believe we are one month in to our summer! Time is flying and I sincerely hope you all are soaking up all that summer has to offer. Campus and our community is buzzing with the excitement of the World Championship Track & Field Oregon 22 events. I hope to see some of you on campus over the coming weeks, but please know that there are restrictions to building access, parking, and services. Please plan accordingly. If you plan on coming out to Hayward, rest assured it will be an epic experience!
Since we've shifted to a monthly email, I warn you that today's edition is packed (please also see attachments!). Thanks for reading. Bonus points for those who make it to the end.
Be well and take good care,
Laura Lee
Updates and Upcoming:
* COVID precautions: We have heard your concerns about recent increases in COVID cases and we continue to appreciate everyone's efforts towards ensuring the health and safety of our community while we navigate phases and spikes in the COVID pandemic. We continue to monitor state and university messaging and will be sure to communicate any critical changes that we are aware of. At this time, for those of us on campus this summer, we remain in a phase of community responsibility. This means that, in the absence of specific requirements, restrictions, or mandates, each community member is reliant on the individual actions we take and the decisions we make within our specific teams, groups, programs, and units to keep ourselves, our co-workers, loved ones, and the larger community safe. These actions and decisions are supported by the existing guidelines and available tools that are at our disposal to prevent the spread of disease (especially during times of high transmission). For example:
* We are reminded that masks are welcome in the college, in classrooms, hallways, and other shared spaces, and are accommodated across campus.
* We maintain the ability to arrange our meetings and other get-togethers with social distancing in mind when feasible.
* We are encouraged to travel safely, and to take precautions around others if you think you may have been exposed while traveling or by visitors.
In short, we're reminded that it is fine to be safe for ourselves, and it's kind to be cautious for the benefit of others.
Specific reminders around other options for safety were shared in the June 23 COVID-19 Update: Latest News and Announcements<https://t.e2ma.net/webview/87akfg/b0f685f6d31461ee287f9ac3b49e71b5>

Reminders:
* World Athletics Championship 2022 and parking in the COE: Starting Friday, the University of Oregon will have the honor of hosting of the World Championships. There have been several informational emails shared on this topic. In addition to exciting details about the event, we have been warned that there will be an impact on our parking over the course of summer with some peak impact in mid-July. We encourage supervisors to work directly their supervisees / team members to identify the ideal work assignments that alleviate stress on parking while continuing to meet the needs of the college. This may include remote working options during this time as long as in-person student needs continue to be met and communication with students and guests is clear.
