Dear CoE Students,

By now you have read several university messages about our transition to remote instruction during the first three weeks of the Spring Quarter. With this message, I will share our college’s preparations for ensuring academic continuity for at least the first three weeks of the upcoming academic term.

We are working with all faculty and instructors to make sure their technology needs are met so they can connect with you remotely through finals this week and into spring term. We will also be offering resources to those of you who need help getting connected remotely for your courses. If you need help accessing appropriate technology or troubleshooting software issues visit the Information Services web page<https://is.uoregon.edu/remote> for connectivity support, or you can access direct assistance by calling 541-346-HELP.

In addition, our undergraduate academic advisors are preparing to work with you remotely, our faculty are preparing to provide remote instruction, supervision, and mentoring, and our staff are prepared to assist you as always. All faculty and staff contact information is available on our CoE website at https://education.uoregon.edu/people/faculty. Our buildings will remain open, especially our popular Learning Commons in the HEDCO building. The Learning Commons Help Desk will be open during regular business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday).

We also appreciate your continued patience as we resolve some of the challenges faced by our many school, community agency, and HEDCO Clinic partners. They are also adapting to the threat of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), creating some unknowns and uncertainties that may preclude or otherwise impact various field experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students. For example, the ultimate length of school closures could change the minimum in-field contact hours required for professional educator licensing. Be assured that our academic leadership is advocating on your behalf to facilitate your completion of state licensure requirements. Given the nature of this complicated work with multiple stakeholders there may be revisions to our plans as more information becomes available or situations change. Please maintain contact with your academic department heads and academic program coordinators to stay informed about any curricular changes or updates.

It is clear that this situation will continue to evolve, so we will do our best to keep you informed. Please check your email periodically. And don’t hesitate to reach out to my office with any questions. My email address is educationdean at uoregon.edu<mailto:educationdean at uoregon.edu>.

Wishing you and yours well,

Randy
