coe-staff: Fwd: December 8 rescheduled final message to faculty

Dear UO faculty member,

Recent weather reports have shown the possibility of freezing rain early Thursday, December 8, that could result in hazardous conditions on campus.

The UO will monitor weather and campus conditions and will notify students and employees as soon as possible after 6 a.m. Thursday of any weather delays to the UO schedule. NO DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE YET. AN ALERT MESSAGE WILL ONLY BE SENT IF THERE IS A DELAY.

You are receiving this message because you are scheduled to give a final exam at 8 a.m. Thursday, which the Registrar would reschedule to 5 p.m. Thursday, if the UO delays opening until 10 a.m.

Some students with 8 a.m. Thursday finals also have finals at 5 p.m. Thursday. Those students will be instructed by the Registrar to take their already-scheduled 5 p.m. final, and work with you on alternative testing options for the rescheduled 8 a.m. final.

If you have conflicts or issues with hosting a rescheduled final at 5 p.m. Thursday, the Provost asks that you, please work within your academic department on possible solutions. Your flexibility with student schedules is greatly appreciated, as many students may have commitments to travel immediately following their final exams.

It is understood that not everyone will be able to travel to campus during inclement weather. Members of the campus community are expected to use their best judgment to assess the risk of coming to campus and returning home safely, based on individual circumstances. Those who believe that road conditions from their homes are dangerous are urged to remain home.
