coe-staff: Committee on Student Experience (CoSE)

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Thank you for engaging with President Schill today.  I know that he appreciated your full engagement in our efforts to improve our culture for the benefit of our students, and for all of us.  I am writing you for the purpose of re-introducing the ad hoc committee that I mentioned last Friday at our faculty and staff meeting.  As was noted by many of you today, it is indeed time for us to engage in specific actions aimed at improving our ability to better serve the full plurality of our students.

My charge for this committee is given below.  I will now work with Ed and Krista to fill out the membership.  Consistent with this mission, we will be contacting as many students as faculty to serve on this committee.

I look forward to their recommendations.

Committee on Student Experience (CoSE): Fostering a Culture of Inclusion, Equity, and Excellence
This joint committee of students and faculty, chaired by eminent scholar Professor Ed Kame'enui, is charged with identifying research and curricular changes and improvements that foster academic rigor, pluralism, and respect by forging greater collaboration among faculty and students, academic departments and programs, and research and outreach units.
