 NEW OSEP CENTER IN PERSONNEL PREPARATION TO BE FUNDED

 The Office of Special Education Programs, US Department of Education, 
 is inviting applications for a new Center to Support the Development of 
 Effective Educators to Serve Children with Disabilities.  The purpose of 
 this center will be to provide technical assistance to:

 1.  State education agencies in reviewing and reforming certification 
 or licensure standards in collaboration with IHEs, LEAs, and non-profit 
 organizations with teacher or leader preparation programs;

 2.  IHEs, LEAs and non-profit organizations, in collaboration with 
 SEAs, to help them to restructure and improve their preparation 
 programs; and

 3.  SEAs, IHEs, LEAs and non-profit organizations that are ready to 
 evaluate and improve special education teacher preparation programs by 
 using data on outcomes for students with disabilities for K-grade 12 
 that are linked to data on special education teachers.

 AWARD:  1 award of up to $5 million/year for up to 5 years (3 years 
 plus 2, depending on performance).
