Dear Faculty,
As part of the upcoming Week of Research & Innovation<https://research.uoregon.edu/research-highlights/research-innovation-week>, you are invited to attend Boosting Faculty Careers through Honors and Awards on April 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the EMU Diamond Lake Room (Room 119). Note that a Zoom option<https://uoregon.zoom.us/j/95597372150?pwd=5gDXeQT3qw9rOa46Ln3f6LJd9Irm9s.1&from=addon> is also available, but we encourage folks to attend in person.
This session will feature Provost Chris Long, Interim Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Graduate Education Geri Richmond, and a distinguished panel of faculty who will share insights and answer questions about competitive recognitions and awards. Panelists include Judith Eisen (Biology), Mat Johnson (Creative Writing), Ernesto Martinez (Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies), Laura Pulido (Geography; Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies), and Susan Sokolowski (Sports Product Design).
The goal of this event is to help build a culture of faculty nominations and to highlight institutional support that can reduce the administrative burden associated with nominating or being nominated. Faculty interested in self-nomination or nominating colleagues for honors such as the National Academies of Sciences, Medicine, and Engineering; the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; the American Association for the Advancement of Science; or other prestigious awards are encouraged to contact Research Development Services at rds at uoregon.edu<mailto:rds at uoregon.edu> for support.
Best wishes,
Catherine Jarmin Miller
