coe-fac: COE Peer Review of Teaching Vote and Next steps

The following message is sent on behalf of Angie Whalen, PhD, in her role as Chair of the Peer Review of Teaching Policy Committee:

Dear COE Faculty,

With gratitude to you for taking the time to review, comment on, and vote on the Peer Review of Teaching Policy Committee. The Peer Review of Teaching Policy has passed with a majority vote of 33 to 1.

The attached policy (and appendix) will be submitted to the OtP portal today.

Next steps: Following OtP review, this version will be recorded as the "faculty approved" version. This will be sent back to the dean for final review and adjustments. The dean will share any adjustments with faculty prior to resubmission to OtP before June 15th.

The comments on this policy (some lack of clarity in the preamble OtP language and the service burden of the review assignments) have been noted by the committee and shared with the dean and may inform any additional adjustments made during dean or provost review.

Additionally, it is the recommendation of the committee chair that:


  1.  this policy is reviewed again once the two promotion policies are developed;
  2.  implementation guidance be regularly revisited with use of the policy.
