Dear COE Faculty,
The 2023 merit review process is now underway. The process for eligible faculty will follow the COE's newly updated Faculty Merit Increase Policy and the COE Annual Review and Merit Review Policy Guidelines. The policy and guidelines can be found on our Faculty Performance Evaluation and Merit<https://blogs.uoregon.edu/coepersonnelsupport/faculty-resources/faculty-evaluation-and-merit/> page. To be eligible, tenure-track and tenured faculty and career non-tenure-track faculty must have an appointment on or before July 1, 2023. Pro-tem and retired faculty members are ineligible for merit.
A brief outline of timeframe, materials, and process for eligible faculty are described below. More information about department- and unit-specific processes for submission will be provided by your Department or Unit Head.
Period of Review:
The period under review is September 16, 2019 - September 15, 2023. The merit evaluation extends back to the last merit review.
Materials to submit:
An updated curriculum vita - Faculty will be required to submit their most current CV and to use the highlight function to spotlight any activities (teaching, service, research or other scholarly productivity) that occurred during the merit review window. When appropriate, the comment function may also be added to expand on a highlighted activity.
Note 1: Faculty with no performance evaluation materials within the merit review period must submit the Faculty Activity Summary (attached) which is also Appendix A of the COE Merit Policy.
Note 2: Faculty members who completed a sabbatical during the merit review period, must also include the sabbatical report with the merit review materials.
Note 3: As noted in the recently approved COE Merit Policy, CVs submitted as part of the merit review should follow the CV template included in the COE's most current Tenure/d Track Faculty (TTF) and Career Track Faculty (CTF/CNTTF) Promotion and Tenure policies.
Please send the requested materials to your Department or Unit Heads by October 31, 2023.
Review Process:
* Unit or Department Merit Review Committees or Unit Directors or Department Heads, in conjunction with the Internal Governance Policies of the unit, will review the materials identified above in making Merit recommendations to the Dean of the College of Education.
* If a faculty member has appointments in separate units the faculty member will submit materials to both unit or department head(s) / administrators as appropriate. For joint appointments, both department heads should be consulted in conducting the review, and the final merit rating and recommendation would be submitted by the department head of the faculty member's primary home.
* Department and Unit Heads will submit merit recommendations to the Dean's office by November 14th. The Dean's office will make final decisions regarding merit.
* Merit increases will take effect January 1, 2024.]
Best,
