Dear Colleagues:

We are writing to you with information on the 2018 Undergraduate Research Symposium in hopes that you will encourage your undergraduates to submit their work and that you will save the date so you can attend and help to celebrate the extraordinary creativity and ingenuity of our students. Since its inception in 2011, the Symposium has grown to become a major campus event to showcase our top scholars, with the 2017 Symposium including 292 presenters and 177 faculty mentors, and spanning 60 majors and eight colleges.

Additional information about the Symposium is available on our website<http://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/>. Here are the highlights:

  *   The 2018 Symposium will take place on Thursday, May 17 in the EMU and will include a catered reception at 5pm with a keynote address and a ceremony to announce the recipients of the Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award.
  *   Abstracts for student presentations at the 2018 event are due by 11:59 pm PST on Friday, March 16 and are submitted via the Undergraduate Research Symposium website (http://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/<https://t.e2ma.net/click/0dy7u/40210g/0duw3i>).
  *   The abstract submission link will “go live” on December 7, 2017. Questions about submissions should be directed to ugresearch at uoregon.edu<mailto:ugresearch at uoregon.edu>.
  *   We have two information sessions for students planned for Thursday, January 11 from 3-4pm and Monday, March 5 from 4-5pm in the Global Scholars Hall Learning Commons.
  *   The full event agenda will be available on the Symposium website<http://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/> on January 1, 2018, including poster, oral, creative work, FIG/ARC, and Data Stories sessions.
  *   The schedule for winter and spring term workshops for abstract writing, poster design, and oral presentations is available on the Symposium website<http://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/>.
  *   The list of 2018 presenter awards and eligibility criteria will also be updated on the Symposium website<http://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/>.
