Subject: NCAASE Launch of Did You Know

The National Center on Assessment and Accountability for Special Education (NCAASE) is a 12 million dollar research center funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) over the past five years with Joe Stevens and myself as PI's and Joe Nese as a Director. The NCAASE is launching a series of Did You Know or (DYK), research briefs based on our recent studies we are completing or have recently completed. These documents are designed to display an important finding with an 'easy to read' graph that can be quickly scanned and interpreted.

The research findings focus on several issues with large-scale assessment systems: Growth and gaps for students with disabilities, outcomes from interim assessments and their relations with state tests, alternate assessment outcomes, and opportunity to learn in a standards-based environment.

We have attached the first DYK and hope you find it useful. This and future DYKs will be available at the NCAASE website (ncaase.com<http://ncaase.com>) along with other publications, technical reports, In-Briefs, and presentations. Please go to the link in this email to get all the information on the center.

We plan on distributing them on a regular basis as we consolidate our past five years of research. Please distribute to others you believe would benefit from having access to these documents.

Thank you.

NCAASE Researchers: Steve Elliott - ASU, Joe Nese - UO, Ann Schulte - ASU, Joe Stevens - UO, and Gerald Tindal - UO
