Dear CAS Colleagues,

Are you having trouble receiving emails from the College of Arts and Science’s Dean’s office, including messages from Dean Chris Poulsen or Around the O?

To keep users from being distracted by what it thinks are low-priority emails, Outlook has two inboxes: Focused (usually where emails from colleagues go) and Other (typically where emails sent to many recipients go).

Follow along with this guide if emails from CAS are being sent to Outlook’s “Other” tab and how you can move it to your “Focused” inbox.

Outlook Application for Mac and Windows:

  * From your Outlook application, click the tab to “Other” (underneath your mailbox tools that include New Message, Delete, Archive, Move, Flag, Mark Unread, Report and more.)
  * Right-click the email from the Other inbox. From the pop-up menu, click Always Move to Focused (alternatively, you can click the email you wish to move to Focused and use the shortcut key combination of shift, “Option” key on Mac (“alt” on PC) and “F”.
