travelnews: From UO Safety and Risk regarding international travel

[BAO news for travel administrators]

To UO Travelers -

For the last couple of years, the maximum days charged for the supplemental international travel insurance has been 14 days at $2.50 per day, for a maximum fee of $35.00. Beginning in fiscal year 2023, the maximum days will increase to 30 days; the daily charge will stay the same. Departments will be charged for trips lasting 30 days or longer a maximum of $70.00 ($2.50 per travel day).  This change will begin to reconcile the actual cost of the coverage with the amount charged to travelers. Travel insurance is included on your Travel Expense report in Concur for payment to your department index. Supplemental international travel insurance is required for all University staff/faculty and students traveling on University business.  Coverage includes accident and sickness, security evacuations, emergency medical evacuation, trip cancellation, trip interruption and travel assistance. Safety and Risk Services recommends that faculty, staff and students register their travel plans with the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy through the State Department's travel registration website and enroll in the Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program<https://step.state.gov/step/> (STEP).  STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest U.S. consulate to contact you in an emergency.
