Good morning, Senators and members of the Senate Executive Committee,

The ASUO President, Isaiah Boyd, has asked me to share these letters from student groups requesting action on renaming Deady Hall, relocating the Pioneer statues, and removing the racist murals in the library. As you will see, the letters are quite thoughtful and deserving of our support. I have signed on and invite you to do as well by following the link below.

As he indicated in the Senate meeting yesterday, President Schill has recommended that the Board dename Deady Hall. This is a great step, and the student letters call for additional actions that the President and Board could consider to make our campus welcoming to Black, Native, and all other students, faculty, staff, and visitors of color.

President Boyd writes:
If you or any senators would like to support our efforts in removing these racist landmarks, please click this link so that we can add any names to our list of supporters when we release the letters later this Friday. If you are unable to sign your name in support through the form below, feel free to email me directly. [asuopres at uoregon.edu]. Please reach out if you have any questions, and thank you again for your time and your support.
