[Uopatos] FW: Logo Mockups - Feedback requested

Hola Patos,

At our August LSG meeting we discussed the creation of an LSG logo for some branding as well as using for outreach and our events (new faculty, tarea time, tshirts, stickers hurrah). I reached out to a student on campus who’s a great artist and she created some mock-ups. I showed them to the LSG members at our meeting on Wednesday (18 of us! Yeah!) and now I’m sending them out to the group.

Your feedback is appreciated.

1) Do you like the logo? What aspects do you like? What aspects don't you like? Would you want something less abstract and more representational (like a person rather than a symbol)
2) What color/color combo do you like most for your logo?
3) What type of font would you prefer for your typography? Sans serif fonts do not have a little tail at the end of each letter, and are typically more clean and modern, whereas serif fonts have little tails at the ends of each letter are known to be perceived as more professional. I feel that either could work for your group, but perhaps the sans serif might be more approachable for college students.

We are creating a logo, this has already been decided by the group. We are looking for feedback, if any moving forward. Let me know if what your thoughts are.

Thanks.

Subject: Logo Mockups

Thank you so much for your patience this past week. I've been working over the past few days to create a unique logo that could embody culture and empowerment, and after lots of experimentation, I've come up with one I feel could be a potential candidate for the UO Latinx Strategies Group.

This is by no means the final version of this logo or the logo you must have. This is only what I have been able to reach within this past week, and I will still need some time to either perfect this logo or create other logos depending on the feedback I receive from you all.

Please do not hesitate to give me honest feedback, I not only want you all to have a logo you feel excited about, but I also want to use every opportunity to grow as an artist, so any feedback is much appreciated!

Logo concept:

My goal for the logo was to create something that embodied culture, community, and empowerment. Overall, I referenced indigenous symbols to represent the cultural aspect. The circle used represents community, and the lines inside the circle represent hands coming together and connecting (almost like a handshake or pulling someone up, but very abstract) in hopes of showing empowerment. By coincidence, these shapes also form an 's' in the center (like the s in strategies), 'l' for latinx, and somewhat of a 'g' for group - which wasn't intentional, but is a really nice touch!

My questions for you:

1) Do you like the logo? What aspects do you like? What aspects don't you like? Would you want something less abstract and more representational (like a person rather than a symbol)
2) What color/color combo do you like most for your logo?
3) What type of font would you prefer for your typography? Sans serif fonts do not have a little tail at the end of each letter, and are typically more clean and modern, whereas serif fonts have little tails at the ends of each letter are known to be perceived as more professional. I feel that either could work for your group, but perhaps the sans serif might be more approachable for college students.

Attached to this email are three photos to reference for the questions above :)

Looking forward to hearing from you!
