Since 2013, the state of Oregon has allowed undocumented immigrant students with established Oregon roots to pay in-state tuition at public colleges and universities. The number of such students at UO is growing, as are the challenges these students face in the current political climate. Ensuring their safety and success is a core part of our academic mission.

At this training, faculty and staff will:

Explore the unique challenges facing students at the University of Oregon whose immigrant legal status is precarious or unresolved

Review the basic laws and policies affecting these students

Learn about appropriate referral resources

Learn what you should do if immigration come to campus

Receive guidance on how to effectively support DREAMers and identify one or more positive changes that you and your unit can make

After completing the entire four-hour training, participants will have the opportunity to sign a pledge of confidentiality and support, and receive a decal and pin designating them official "DREAMer Allies."

The training will be offered twice more during 2017-18. We that we cannot accommodate partial attendance at the training; all four hours are required of all participants. For more information, contact Justine Carpenter (justcarp at uoregon.edu<mailto:justcarp at uoregon.edu>).
