[Uopatos] Latino Heritage month library exhibit

Hi Sari,

Thanks for the offer! The library generally handles all of the printing, layout, etc. of their exhibits (and paying for them), so the main need would be for folks willing to help plan and design the exhibit. The possibilities are pretty open depending on what themes we focus on (part of why I would like to work with a group on this), but in general we do like to emphasize library materials. I would imagine some materials from major works in Latino Studies (covers of books or images from within them), pulled from our collections, but more so materials representing U.S. Latino history and culture that could be drawn from archival materials in our Special Collections, images showing Latino history and culture (especially in Oregon), maybe even profiles of folks here at the UO (we have had exhibits in the past that have information about faculty working on the topic of the exhibit). These can be worked out among those who choose to work on this.

Hello everyone,

The library has an open call for exhibits or events to host in the coming (2017/2018) school year. I would like to shoot for an exhibit in the four large, main exhibit cases for Latino Heritage Month. I am told that this fall is open, so we could have something up for Fall 2017. However, I don't want to pull together an exhibit entirely on my own. Would anyone among the Patos want to join in putting together an exhibit? The priority deadline for exhibit proposals is April 10, so we have some time to decide, but I would like to have a proposal submitted as soon as possible. Let me know if you want to join me over the Spring and Summer putting something together.
