Dear UO Faculty and Instructors,
The Accessible Education Center invites nominations for the eighth annual University of Oregon Faculty Excellence in Universal Design award, and we request your help!
Students, instructors, advisers, and other professional staff are encouraged to nominate faculty members and graduate employees who exemplify accessibility in the design and implementation of their courses during the 2024-2025 academic year. Please spread the word widely! Attached is a flyer: please consider printing and posting.
More about the award:
Excellence in universal design involves the development and implementation of flexible curriculum and instruction towards increasing access for all learners. Universal design in learning means creating equitable access to education through curriculum that "reflects an awareness of the unique nature of each learner and the need to address differences," according to the Center for Applied Special Technology. A universal design curriculum offers multiple ways for learners to engage<https://www.cast.org/impact/universal-design-for-learning-udl> with information, multiple means of information representation<https://udlguidelines.cast.org/representation>, and multiple options for expressing<https://udlguidelines.cast.org/action-expression> and communicating knowledge.
You can submit your nomination through a Forms survey by either:
1. Entering your responses to questions directly into our Forms nomination survey (if prompted, sign in with your UO account)<https://forms.office.com/r/rWKPdcj4AG>, or
2. Downloading the PDF nomination form,<https://aec.uoregon.edu/sites/default/files/2023-04/udl-nomination-form-2023.pdf> saving it, and uploading it into our Forms nomination survey.<https://forms.office.com/r/rWKPdcj4AG>
Nominations will be accepted through May 23rd, 2025.
Thank you for spreading the word!
Kindly,
AEC

I am a Designated Reporter. which means that I am required to report all incidents of prohibited discrimination and harassment including sexual harassment and violence that I learn about to the UO Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance (OICRC). An OICRC team member will follow up with you to offer information, resources, and any available options for addressing what was reported. You can receive support without participating in a formal university process and without sharing additional information. Student agency is important to me and to the OICRC team.
