Subject: [cadre-practitioner] Office for Civil Rights (Seattle Office) Request for Applications

NOTE: This announcement is posted on behalf of the agency seeking applications, not CADRE. Please contact the Seattle OCR for additional information. Thank you.

The Seattle office of the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is collecting application materials from individuals interested in General Attorney positions at the GS-0905-11 and GS-0905-12 grade levels (with promotion potential to a GS-13). OCR is an agency within the U.S. Department of Education that is responsible for enforcing civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination on the bases of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and age in educational institutions that are recipients of federal financial assistance from the Department and, with respect to disability, in certain public entities such as public school districts. More information about OCR is available on our website: www.ed.gov/ocr<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http*3A*2F*2Fwww.ed.gov*2Focr&data=04*7C01*7Cclaudette.rushing*40sol.doi.gov*7C610300e03ab34a8370b608da199d5b3d*7C0693b5ba4b184d7b9341f32f400a5494*7C0*7C0*7C637850460876613522*7CUnknown*7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0*3D*7C3000&sdata=CnqxTm1osjlWKh7*2FfC63UrEPJJjZs1JtiQul2nuH1ts*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUl!!C5qS4YX3!A9CwsVTJvPpSNalsrN8-NWbkqbJv3Rw-XaHQT1LjRnW15HzGW9PZG3wkdBezlizuGEWDzEywrS50Ke8EU0ZPLMzeKqentnDitkIjzUo$>.

Applicants must be a graduate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and must be a member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Title II or the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Boy Scouts of America Equal Access Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Privacy Act. Applicants should be able to demonstrate skill in oral and written communication and the ability to analyze and resolve legal problems that have an absence of readily available precedent. Other relevant experience includes knowledge of investigative, analytical, negotiation, mediation, and resolution techniques.

Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume via email to: ocrjobs at ed.gov<mailto:ocrjobs at ed.gov> with a cc to: ocr.seattle at ed.gov<mailto:ocr.seattle at ed.gov>. Please indicate you are applying to the Seattle office in the transmittal email.

The United States Government does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, membership in an employee organization, or other non-merit factor. Please note, OCR accepts application materials from individuals who are eligible for consideration for noncompetitive hiring via: Schedule A Persons with Disabilities appointments (5 CFR 213.3102(u)); Veterans' Recruitment Appointments; Excepted Hiring Authority for Attorneys; and former Peace Corps and AmeriCorps appointees (22 USC 2506).

OCR will keep your resume on file for possible consideration for 365 days following the date of submission. Please note, however, that OCR Seattle is not staffed to respond to questions. Should you be selected for consideration, you will be contacted by OCR to confirm your continued interest. (THIS IS NOT A VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT)

Please note that potential candidates are also encouraged to check www.usajobs.gov<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http*3A*2F*2Fwww.usajobs.gov*2F&data=04*7C01*7Cclaudette.rushing*40sol.doi.gov*7C610300e03ab34a8370b608da199d5b3d*7C0693b5ba4b184d7b9341f32f400a5494*7C0*7C0*7C637850460876613522*7CUnknown*7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0*3D*7C3000&sdata=rKEO*2FQGSCywY97MM1wiJFvCCaGpgBtaEyb7HZi5Q2uU*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUl!!C5qS4YX3!A9CwsVTJvPpSNalsrN8-NWbkqbJv3Rw-XaHQT1LjRnW15HzGW9PZG3wkdBezlizuGEWDzEywrS50Ke8EU0ZPLMzeKqentnDi3CbdzUY$> for positions within OCR and may choose to apply directly to open positions through the USA Jobs platform.
