All, Below, Alex makes a key point about human development and deaf-blindness and invites us to relate it to our own life.As a person who experiences blindness and because I recently had the conversation with able-bodied colleagues about how much help to give me, I thought I’d share my reflections. The help I often need most is understanding – once I have that, I usually prefer to handle the rest independently. Often times, helpers want to “do” for me when what I really want is information about my environment or a task so I can do for myself. The information or demo I need might be a one-time thing, parsed out over time or updated if change necessitates it.
I could go on and on but I will stop here and invite you to share your own reflections on Alex’s point. Heidi

I have observed some texts and reflections which deal with human development. They are good texts if we just consider the theory, but they don't reach the key point to practice understanding. Therefore, I've decided to "scribble" this brief orientation because in my classes it's necessary to get faster to the basis for practical intervation. At this time, i highlight deafblindness, however, it serves everyone.
In my classes, there are some questions I leave to deal directly with the student because it is essential that he/she can reflect individually.
One of these aspects is extremely important and it rehards to human development.
I see like this: "Deafblindness is in the opposite way to human development".
For this reason, But how does human development happen? Deafblindness becomes extremely complex. It happens as fololows:
“Understanding precedes execution".
All human beings must understand so they can execute. When we highlight taht "understanding precedes executing" we are in fact highlighting the receptive communication (understanding).
and the expressive communication ( execution). And it is in the receptive communicationm i.e."the essence" that the "opposite way" aspect is.
If a deafblind person doesn not understand, through his/her "different" communication models, this person won't exectute anything correctly.
For example: If I, Alex Garcia, don't understand "palm writting", I won't execute anything properly or I will do it with some failures.
Reflecting this "scribble". Relate it to your everyday lives. You all who can read this text have abundant symbolic language, therefore, you have the conditions to makesuch relations.
