Mobility International USA (MIUSA) is currently recruiting for two internship position at our office in downtown Eugene, Oregon.
These are unpaid 3-6 month internship with a minimum of 10 hours per week, beginning November 2015. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until position is filled, complete instructions on how to apply are included in the internship descriptions attached to this email.

Who We Are
Co-founded by a woman with a disability in 1981, Mobility International USA (MIUSA) is a national nonprofit organization based in Eugene, Oregon. MIUSA's mission is to empower people with disabilities around the world to achieve their human rights through international exchange and international development.
Position description
This is a 3-6 month internship at MIUSA's office in downtown Eugene, Oregon USA. The intern will work with MIUSA staff to determine organizational needs and to assess the intern's academic and professional goals. Interns must commit to a minimum of ten hours per week. Projects may include:
* Alumni outreach and networking. Support with identifying and implementing strategies for promoting a stronger network among MIUSA's exchange alumni around the world. Managing and updating the alumni database, and LinkedIn and Facebook Alumni groups.
* Women's leadership projects. Assisting with projects related to empowering women and girls with disabilities.
* Photo Exhibition. Assisting with promotion of MIUSA's international traveling photo exhibition Brilliant & Resilient and arranging logistics for exhibition events.
* Media support. Assisting with implementation of a media strategies to promote MIUSA's work, including drafting social media posts and press releases, highlighting alumni achievements and success stories, and disseminating information to media outlets
* Fundraising. Assisting with fundraising for MIUSA's next Women's Institute on Leadership and Disability (WILD)
* Organizational Support. Assisting with office management tasks (mail, computer tasks, file management, telephones)
In addition, the intern will complete other timely tasks as assigned and may work with different teams to achieve goals of the entire organization.
Qualifications:
* Completion of at least one year of post-secondary education in international studies, women's studies, education, journalism, writing, disability studies or related fields preferred
* Experience or interest in disability issues, diversity, women's rights, and/or human rights
* Experience or interest in international cultural exchange
* Experience in a non-profit, civic or governmental, educational, or international context highly preferred
* Professional or personal experience working with people with disabilities highly preferred
* Excellent detail-oriented, organizational and prioritizing skills
* Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
* Ability to communicate effectively via e-mail, telephone, Skype, video relay, instant messaging and other media
* Computer experience and skills, including using software applications such as Microsoft Office, Photoshop, InDesign, internet, databases and email
* Experience and skills using listservs (including managing groups, electronic newsletters), developing and updating website content, and social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
* English or ASL proficiency required
* Knowledge of one or more languages other than English preferred

MIUSA's mission is to empower people with disabilities around the world to achieve their human rights through international exchange and international development.
Project Description
The 'RightsNow! Strong Communities through Enforcing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities' is a 30-month project administered by MIUSA and in partnership with a U.S. Consortium of three leading organizations: Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF), International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), and the U.S. International Council on Disabilities (USICD). The RightsNow! project provides technical assistance to Disabled People's Organizations (DPOs), civil society and governments in Armenia, Kenya, Mexico and Vietnam, to strengthen the implementation and enforcement of disability rights legislation.
Project activities include in-country trainings, virtual consultations, a high level D.C.-based conference, and the development of an online resource center. All activities are designed to strengthen the capacity of DPOs, build sustainable coalitions, and create a global platform for tools, resources, and exchange of experience.
RightsNow! is funded by the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor of the U.S. Department of State.
Internship Schedule and Compensation
MIUSA internship positions are unpaid and interns are responsible for their own insurance, relocating and living expenses.
The RightsNow! internship is a 3 - 6 month commitment between October 2015 and the end of March 2016. 10 - 20 hours/week preferred. Academic credit for internships is optional. People with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position description
The RightsNow! Project Intern will work closely with the RightsNow! team at MIUSA's office in downtown Eugene, Oregon USA to support the design and implementation of major project activities. Tasks may include:
* Trainings and Technical Assistance: Assist with preparations for in-country trainings, DC-based conference, and ongoing technical assistance activities. This may entail tracking logistical arrangements, organizing training materials, gathering country-specific and disability-related content, and organizing photos from the field.
* D.C.-based Conference: Assist with preliminary preparations for the D.C. - based conference. This may entail drafting application and conference materials, organizing and tracking applications, and tracking logistical arrangements.
* Online Resource Center: Assist with the development of new website content to meet the needs of international stakeholders. This may entail collecting resources, soliciting and editing article submissions, formatting photos, converting documents to accessible alternative formats, and assistance with efforts to promote the website internationally. All information available on the resource center will be designed to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
* U.S. Consortium: Work as part of a team and support the U.S. consortium to achieve their goals and objectives. Provide assistance as needed, which may entail data entry, organizing files via GoogleDrive, scheduling meetings, formatting documents with project branding guidelines, transcribing documents, and notetaking.
* Organizational support: Assist with other office tasks as needed such as receiving/sending mail, organizing files and office supplies, answering telephones, attending organization-wide meetings, and supporting other projects with priority tasks.
Qualifications:
* Completion of at least one year of post-secondary education in international development, international studies, law, political science, disability studies or related fields preferred
* Experience or interest in disability issues, diversity, international development and/or human rights
* Experience in a non-profit, civic or governmental, or international context highly preferred
* Professional or personal experience working with people with disabilities highly preferred
* Extensive computer experience and skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), GoogleDrive, Photoshop, etc.
* Knowledge of creating accessible Word documents, PDFs, and other alternative formats highly preferred
* Experience in developing website and social media content
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
* Excellent detail-oriented, organizational and prioritizing skills
* Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
* Knowledge of Spanish, Vietnamese, Armenian, or ASL highly preferred
Written English proficiency required
