UO Travelers and Concur Delegates –

Oregon Department of Transportation: REAL ID<https://www.oregon.gov/odot/Forms/DMV/7476.pdf>

If you are planning domestic travel on or after October 1, 2021, or to enter a government facility, you are required to have a REAL ID compliant driver’s license. (Or you may travel with your valid passport, passport card, or military ID.)

Oregon DMV is issuing REAL ID compliant cards which have a new design including a star in the upper right corner. To receive a REAL ID card, you will be required to present documents (see list below) to the DMV which will be scanned and stored securely for 10 years. REAL ID cards from other states do not transfer to Oregon. New Oregon residents are required to obtain an Oregon REAL ID card.

Plan Ahead! Due to the Spring 2020 COVID related shutdown, Oregon DMV offices continue to have long waits for appointments<https://www.oregon.gov/odot/dmv/pages/appointments.aspx>. Oregon DMV is currently scheduling more than two months out for most Lane County locations. In addition to Eugene and Springfield offices, you might consider Junction City or Cottage Grove to secure an earlier appointment date.

In order to receive an Oregon REAL ID card, you will need to provide these documents at the Oregon DMV for verification:

  * Identity and legal presence. Acceptable documents include a US government issued birth certification, unexpired US passport/passport card, Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of Citizenship, Consular Record of Birth Abroad, valid permanent resident card, valid employment authorization card, an unexpired foreign passport with an unexpired visa and valid I-94 issued by DHS, or an unexpired passport issued from the Federated State of Micronesia, the Republic of Marshall Islands, or the Republic of Palau and a valid I-94 issued by DHS.
  * Social Security number. Acceptable documents include a Social Security Card, W2 form, or paystub. Documents must include your name and SSN.
  * Address. Acceptable documents can be found here.<https://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/DMV/Pages/DriverID/IDProof.aspx> You must provide two pieces of documentation to provide address and you must present hardcopy documents for imaging purposes.

Fees: to replace your current Oregon driver’s license with the REAL ID card, you will pay the standard replacement cost plus the REAL ID fee of $30.

The Real ID Act was passed by Congress in 2005, based on recommendations from the 9/11 Commission that the federal government “set standards for issuance of sources of identification, such as driver’s licenses”. The Act establishes standards for which state-issued driver’s licenses and ID cards must meet in order to be accepted for certain federal purpose such as passing through TSA airport security and entering federal buildings and facilities. Obtaining a REAL ID card is not mandatory for people who do not travel or will not be enter federal buildings and facilities.

For more information please see Oregon DMV: https://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/DMV/Pages/Real_ID.aspx

Please share this information with all UO travelers who fly domestically and enter federal buildings.
