Good Afternoon Travel Coordinators -

You are receiving this email notification because you have been identified as someone responsible for ensuring that drivers of vans for University functions participate in the required training. Please feel free to pass this message along to others who may find this information helpful.

The University of Oregon Van Driver Certification Training to Change:

In order to streamline the van certification process and make training available in a more timely manner, as of September 16th, 2014, all van driver certification training will be provided on-line. Classroom training will no longer be offered by Environmental Health and Safety.

Van driver training is still required for anyone driving ANY van-type vehicle (owned, rented, or borrowed) for University sanctioned travel. Van training certification is a one-time training that is valid indefinitely. Note: Anyone who has already attended a van training class in the past and received certification does not need to take the on-line training unless their department requires it.

To take the on-line course go to http://motorpool.oregonstate.edu/drivers/training and follow the instructions on the page. Completion of the training will be recorded in the University Motor Pool database. Confirmation of certification will be emailed to individual upon completion and passing of quiz. This database will be used by motor pool personnel on site to confirm that the training has been completed before you will be issued keys to a van.

In addition to the on-line training, departments that have their own vehicles should continue to conduct the hands-on and specific van training as it pertains to your operation.

Anyone driving any vehicle on University business still must also have current valid driver's license and have a driver's certification card. Requests for driver certification can be made to the Department of Parking and Transportation on-line https://parking.uoregon.edu/content/driver-certification-request<%20https:/parking.uoregon.edu/content/driver-certification-request> or by calling 541-346-5444. The driver certification card is valid for 12 months for students and 36 months for faculty and staff.
If you have questions about the online van training or need information on who has had training please contact the motor pool at: 541-346-2000.

If you have any other questions please let me know.
