travelnews: Important Update to 2013 Mileage Per Diem Rates

[BAO news for travel administrators]

Travel:

Effective January 1, 2013 the private vehicle mileage reimbursement rate changed from 55.5 cents per mile to 56.5 cents per mile. The Internal Revenue Service announced this change in November and it was confirmed with General Services Administration that they are also making this change (it will be posted on the GSA website within the next week).

Moving/Relocation:

The other private vehicle mileage rate change effective January 1, 2013 relates to moving expenses.  The first 24 cents per mile (no longer 23 cents per mile) is non-taxable for reimbursement on moves over 50 miles.
