Subject: [DNC] Project Director Position recruitment
Dear DNC colleagues,
We are hiring for a project director for our NIMHD-funded R01, which implements and evaluates a youth violence and suicidality prevention strategy. It represents a collaboration between the police department in the school system and focuses on promoting equity, procedural justice, and inclusiveness.
We are also hiring postdocs; interested individuals should email me.
Apologies for any cross-postings.
Director, SOAR Project
The Department of Psychology at University of South Alabama is hiring a full-time director to work on a new R01 research project funded by the National Institutes of Health, called SOAR (Strengthening Opportunities for Achievement and Resilience). The purpose of the project is to implement and evaluate an intervention to reduce youth violence and suicidality. SOAR is a complex, multisystemic project that involves collaboration between the Mobile County Public School System, the Mobile Police Department, and USA.
The director will provide leadership and direction in close collaboration with the project investigators. The director will liaise with multiple external partners and ensure the day-to-day operations of intervention implementation and evaluation activities. The director will have responsibility for ensuring that the project meets established milestones and for engaging in flexible problem-solving around unanticipated barriers. They will also have primary responsibility for training, supervising, and evaluating research assistants and other project staff. They will oversee participant recruitment and tracking, records, data collection, and monitoring of human subjects’ protection, including adverse events and risk management. The director will create and maintain high standards for data collection, protection, storage, and maintenance. They will manage budgetary issues (monitor purchasing and spending; oversee invoices and contracts) and contribute to submitting annual progress reports to the NIH. They will participate in university and community activities that contribute to the project mission, including maintaining positive and collaborative relationships and prompt communication among partners.
The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, strong organizational and communication skills, and capacity to establish and maintain positive community relations.
Required Qualifications
* Master’s degree in social sciences education, administration, or health-related fields, or equivalent experience
* Experience in managing data, conducting human subjects research, and coordinating projects
* Experience working with schools/education systems or with law enforcement/justice systems
* Personal transportation between sites (mileage will be compensated)
This is a salaried position with benefits. A five-year commitment is desired, with opportunity for additional years of employment. This is an in-person position, and hours are business hours (8 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday) with occasional weekend and evening events that will provide flex time. We strongly value the contributions of all individuals and encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply. The University of South Alabama is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression), religion, age, genetic information, disability, or protected veteran status.
