Subject: Sexual Assault Awareness Month!

Happy Spring Term!
I’m reaching out because April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month<https://dos.uoregon.edu/svpe/saam> (SAAM)! We encourage you to share with your networks and students please. This is an opportunity to engage in a myriad of ways in our community to prevent sexual violence and address sex-positive and trauma-informed prevention approaches.

During this month, many campus and community partners are putting on events around the theme "I ask". Attached is a calendar<https://dos.uoregon.edu/svpe/saam> of the events so you can plan for any events you would like to attend. The best way to stay updated on all our events is to follow our Instagram @uosvpe<https://www.instagram.com/uosvpe/> or join our Alliance for Sexual Assault Prevention<https://lists.uoregon.edu/mailman/listinfo/uoasap> mailing list where we will (only for this month) send a weekly email of events occurring. Visit svpe.uoregon.edu/saam<https://dos.uoregon.edu/svpe/saam> for a full list of events with complete details.

We are hosting over 25 events this month ranging from fan favourites such as Sex Toy Bingo<https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/sex_toy_bingo_75>, and incredibly powerful moments of reflection and community building such as Take Back the Night<https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/take_back_the_night_8477> or the Bystander Moment Film Screening & Panel<https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/the_bystander_moment_film_viewing>. Many are community specific events, so I wanted to highlight some events that are open to anyone; including free Tuesday yoga classes<https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/yoga_flow_meditate_in_partnership_with_saam_event> at the Rec and we are partnering with Eugene Emeralds for a baseball game and fundraiser<https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/eugene_emeralds_game_-_strikeout_sexual_violence> for Sexual Assault Support Services. We are partnering with Protection Connection to host Sex Week during Week 3 where we will have informative events such as Don’t Fear the Pap Smear<https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/dont_fear_the_pap_smear_a_pelvic_health_workshop_for_all_bodies> and creative such as Empower Your Pleasure Art Show<https://calendar.uoregon.edu/event/empower_your_pleasure_a_sex_positive_art_show_by_protection_connection>. Also, for those of you in all type of relationships, you can visit with the Center for Healthy Relationships<https://hedcoclinic.uoregon.edu/services/therapy-individual-and-relational> for a free 90minute session (in English or Spanish) to check-in on your relationship with a therapist.

Lastly, the Care and Advocacy Program (formerly the Crisis Intervention and Sexual Violence Support Services Program) invites students to participate in a focus group to learn more about how students perceive crisis situations and how they support themselves and their friends who experience crisis. We invite students to help us by participating in a focus group that will inform how we shift our services to better meet the needs of students. All focus group participants will receive a $10 visa gift card that can be picked up or sent after the completion of the focus group. Sign up for a virtual focus group by clicking on the link below and registering for the day and group that works best for you: capfocusgroups.com<https://www.capfocusgroups.com/>

We would love to share space with you during this month, please share widely and I hope to see you sometime this month! 😊 Ritu

The University of Oregon is located on Kalapuya ilihi, the traditional indigenous homeland of the Kalapuya people. Following treaties between 1851 and 1855, Kalapuya people were dispossessed of their indigenous homeland by the United States government and forcibly removed to the Coast Reservation in Western Oregon. Today, Kalapuya descendants are primarily citizens of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and they continue to make important contributions to their communities, to the UO, to Oregon, and to the world.
