[Prevscilist] Pre-Election Gathering for Students of Color

Dear Friends and Colleagues, 

We want to reach out to you in response to the recent set of executive
orders, the ongoing acts of horrifying racial injustice, and ahead of what
is an unbelievably stressful election period. Our hearts are heavy as we
continue to be flooded with the sorrow and hardships inundating the lives of
our fellow communities of color. We know many students, faculty, and staff
are grieving the continued loss of humanity and the continued demonization
of communities we know, love and are a part of ourselves. During times of
hardship, we recognize that it may be helpful to some to find a sense of
community among those who share similar experiences.

To help remain connected, we are holding a "no-pressure" Zoom event for
students of color to drop in and enjoy the company of one another. This is a
space to laugh, cry, share. whatever you need it to be. We are grateful for
the Students of Underrepresented Races, Cultures, and Ethnicities group for
providing the space and strength to hold this event.

We have scheduled some time on Monday, November 2nd from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
If you know someone in need of support during this time, please invite them
to join us.

Pets are welcome and encouraged!
