[Prevscilist] Society for Prevention Research conference in San Fran - travel award opportunity

Dear PREV students,



Dr. Khurana and I would like to encourage PREV students to attend the annual meeting of the Society for Prevention Research (SPR). SPR is one of the primary professional societies in prevention science. Attending the meeting is a great way to learn more about your professional field, meet other graduate students in the field, and network with faculty and funders. Every 3rd year, the meeting is held outside of Washington, DC and this is the year! The meeting it is in San Francisco, May 28-31. May 28th is the “preconference workshop” day, and several of the workshops have a discounted or even free rate this year, due to sponsorships. See here for more details on the meeting:

To make student attendance at the conference more feasible, we are using a faculty account to offer $500 travel awards for up to 10 PREV students to attend SPR. Priority will be given to students who are an author or co-author on a paper or poster at the conference, and those who do not have another source of funding. If there is more interest this year due to the meeting location, we will consider increasing the number of travel scholarships to 15. Requirements for the SPR travel award:

* Current PREV doctoral or masters student in good standing

* Attend at least 3 full paper sessions, and 1 poster session, at the conference (there is great food at the evening poster sessions!)

* Member of ECPN, which is the student network arm of SPR  (http://www.preventionresearch.org/ecpn-mission/). ECPN also offers travel scholarships!

* Submit a blog/summary of each of the sessions you attend (~350 words per session)
