Dear PREV students,
On March 26-28, 2019, Danny Swan (Postdoctoral Scholar/Research Assistant) in my Applied Research Methods and Statistics Lab at the Prevention Science Institute will be offering a free three-day workshop on R. You are welcome to attend if you are interested in learning more about R. Space is limited, however, so please RSVP to reserve your spot here: https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dhhngggGkL2sBEx.
Workshop Agenda
Day 1, Tuesday, March 26th, noon-1pm: Help getting R and RStudio installed.
Day 1, Tuesday, March 26th, 1pm-5pm: The Basics in R: Working in code, functions, common data structures.
Day 2, Wednesday, March 27th, 1pm-5pm: Basic Data Analysis in R: Working with data, simple data analysis, basic plots, building simple functions (if time allows).
Day 3, Thursday, March 28th, 1pm-5pm: Advanced Data Manipulation and Plotting using the tidyverse: tidyr, ddplyr, and ggplot, a brief introduction to advanced analysis (SEM, hierarchical models) in R.
The three-day workshop will be held in HEDCO 220. Participants are expected to bring their laptop computers to the workshop to get hands-on experience using R. Participants may join for one, two, or all three days depending on their prior experience with R. Day 2 assumes you are familiar with multiple regression. For the advanced analysis portion of Day 3, it is assumed you are familiar with SEM and/or hierarchical models.
We realize this is the week of spring break so some who are interested may be unavailable to attend. Although this particular workshop will not be audio/video-recorded, we hope to offer similar workshops again in the future.
Best wishes,
Emily
