This class is open to any graduate students, not just those in the Spanish specialization. I have not yet created the syllabus, but here is a draft of the course description:

This is a required course for graduate students completing the Spanish Language Psychological Services and Research Specialization and is open to graduate students outside of the specialization. The purpose of this course is to enhance understanding and knowledge of Spanish-speaking Latinas/os in the U.S. Specifically this course will focus on social, historical, political, and cultural contexts that shape and are shaped by the experiences of Latinas/os in the United States, with particular attention to strengths, assets and resilience as well as conditions of social injustice and inequity, and how such conditions influence the health and well-being of Latina/o Spanish-speaking communities.

In the spring of 2018, this course will have a cross-disciplinary focus, drawing upon the knowledge and experience of professionals with whom mental health professionals (counseling and school psychologists and couple and family therapists) might collaborate and learn from in the service of Latina/o and Spanish speaking clients, students, and families.

I support all students regardless of immigration status or country of origin. As a member of the UO Dreamers Working Group, I support Dreamer students and promote their sense of belonging and safety as they pursue their higher education goals. For more information and resources please visit our Dreamers page (https://blogs.uoregon.edu/dreamers/) and the Immigration FAQs page (http://international.uoregon.edu/immigration_faq ). Remember, when interacting with faculty, staff, and offices around campus you are never required to reveal your status.
