Dear Science (writ large!) Dept Heads, Grad Directors, and Grad Coordinators -

You'll be hearing a lot about the Grad Research Forum from the Grad School in the next few days, but please in all the excitement, don't overlook another very cool & exciting Grad School event, especially of interest to science grads:

Our 4th Grad School "Distinguished Alumni Speaker" Dennis Liu speaks Thursday May 11 (day before Grad Forum!) at 4:00 in Willamette 110.

Dennis got his PhD in Biology from the UO and headed down the traditional academic path, but then he became a nationally recognized expert in science education and the director of production of educational media at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 1997.

I know many of our science grad students are interested in science education and science communication - both within and outside academia. So it should be a very useful talk (and a GOOD one - he's a science communicator, for goodness sakes!). Please spread the word.

Hope to see you at Dennis Liu's talk on May 11 (AND at Grad Forum on May 12!).
