About this presentation and the speakers:
The Origin of Ideas: One Approach to Creating a Meaningful Research Career
The speakers will reflect on the origin of many of their research, intervention, and infrastructure ideas including the Classroom Check Up, the 3C model of teacher stress, the Early Identification System, and the Missouri Prevention Science Institute. They will highlight the intersection of research ideas with practice, partnerships, and implementation observations.
Drs. Wendy Reinke and Keith Herman are both Distinguished Curators' Professors at the University of Missouri and co-founders and co-directors of the Missouri Prevention Science Institute. Dr. Reinke has published over 165 peer-reviewed papers and six books on topics ranging from identifying and intervening with academic and behavior problems, effective and efficient teacher consultation models, class wide Ebehavior management interventions, and comprehensive school mental health interventions. Dr. Herman has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and several books. Large strands of his research focus on developmental origins of depression, educator stress and coping, culturally responsive education, parent engagement, and motivational interviewing in school settings. They, along with Dr. Aaron Thompson, co-created the Early Identification System.
