Recruitment Email

Greetings,

Our names are Dr. Harvey Charles Peters (he/him/his), Dr. Thomas Killian (he/him/his), Dr. Melissa Luke (she/her/hers), and Dr. Emma Fredrick (they/them). Dr. Harvey Peters is an assistant professor in the department of Counseling and Human Development at The George Washington University. Dr. Thomas Killian is an assistant professor in the Counseling Department at Montclair State University. Dr. Melissa Luke is a dean’s professor in the department of Counseling and Human Services at Syracuse University. Dr. Emma Fredrick is an assistant professor in the Psychology Department at Marist College. We are conducting this quantitative study on self-perceived anti-oppressive supervision to develop an instrument that measures the processes and practices of anti-oppressive supervision for both supervisors and supervisees. You will be asked to answer a number of questions about your self-perception of anti-oppressive supervision. Additionally, to assess the instrument's concurrent validity, we will ask you to answer questions about multicultural supervision and the supervisory working alliance.

We wish to recruit participants for a research study on anti-oppressive supervision for supervisors and supervisees. The goal of our study is to develop and validate an instrument that will measure supervisors and supervisees self-perception of anti-oppressive supervision. You will be asked to answer a number of questions about the process and practice of anti-oppressive supervision. We estimate that this survey will take between 15-25 minutes. This informed consent document is designed to provide you with the key information for making a decision concerning your participation in this study. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Dr. Harvey Charles Peters, using the contact information provided in this document. We also encourage each participant to shift communications over to email as soon as possible to avoid issues of 3rd party engagement in research interactions.

Your participation is completely voluntary and you can withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. No incentives will be provided for your participation. The study has been approved by The George Washington University Institutional Review Board (IRB # NCR235224).

If you remain interested and willing, we have provided an electronic link to study (see below). This will include the informed consent, instructions and pages that will guide you through the process, and the online survey questionnaire via Qualtrics. The Qualtrics survey link includes both the supervisor and supervisee questionnaires.
